Weapon Special Abilities

Virtuous Discernment

The weapon carries a +2 enchantment. In addition, the wielder may elect to expend one of the sword's seven charges on any natural 20 attack roll. If a charge is used against any creature of evil (moral) alignment, that creature is immediately slain. If the creature is of neutral (moral) alignment, the charge is used, but has no effect. (other than the usual damage roll). If the creature is of good alignment, the charge is used and the wielder is immediately slain. The victim is allowed a Fortitude save (DC 20) to avoid death.

Every time a creature is slain using one of the sword's charges, an etching appears on the "back" of the blade. The etching depicts the moment in the battle that the killing blow was delivered. There is space on the blade for seven such etchings. When all seven charges has been expended, the weapon becomes a "normal" weapon.

Life's Blood

Life's Blood is a thick, blood-like concoction which is sometimes used as a ingested poison.

Whenever the liquid is ingested, the drinker must make a Fortitude save (DC 24) or be transformed into a vampire.

Rings

Ring of Contact

Adventurers often create these plain gold rings for long distance communication. Rings of contact come in sets, with the powers only working to allow contact between its wearer and the wearer of the other rings of the set.

Wondrous Items

Bed, Orthalis'

Orthalis was a powerful cleric/mage that spent his free time creating special magic items that would shrink down to a very small size. He would often shrink himself down to the size necessary to use the shrunk items normally because he was quite mad.

One of the most powerful of his items, the bed created by Orthalis would heal anyone that slept in it for at least 8 hours.

The healing properties of the bed on function once per day.

Belt, Gideon

This belt looks like a normal, albeit fine, silk sash. When worn by a wizard it allows her to prepare one extra spell of each level that she can cast.

In addition, the wearer of a Gideon belt gains the ability to overcome the spell resistance of others as if she had the feat Greater Spell Penetration.

Death Card

This thin, ebony tarot card contains an etching of a scene from the Book of the Dead. Frequently a group will have a special death card design that acts as a calling card when found.

The creator writes the name of the person they want killed on the card and if the person is within 10 miles of the card it will point its bearer towards its intended victim. When the bearer attacks the intended victim, the bearer attacks as if under the effects of a divine favor spell (+1 to attack, +1 to damage).

If the bearer kills the victim, the death card loses it magic and the card is usually left on the body. If the victim escapes, the card will work against the victim until the victim dies.

Death cards are usually created by cleric/assassins of Shador.

Gauntlet, Ghost

This wispy, black glove is a boon to undead hunters everywhere. The wearer of a ghost gauntlet can cast a negative plane protection spell on himself at will (as a 15^th level cleric). In addition, once per week the wearer can cast etherealness. 

The creation process yields only one glove, one glove is all that is necessary to use its abilities.

Gloves of the Fist

These studded leather gloves allow anyone wearing them to fight as if they have the feat: Improved Unarmed Strike. In addition, the gloves add an enhancement bonus of up to +5 to these attacks.

Both gloves must be worn to gain any benefit.

Tools, Orthalis'

One of Orthalis’ most useful creations are this large set of tools. It is a full set of woodworking, metalworking, and stoneworking tools. All of these tools are housed in a large cabinet with drawers to hold the smallest tools.

The only magic ability of these tools is their ability to shrink on command. They are, however, masterwork tools (granting a +2 competence bonus on Craft checks).
