Vanor is covered with a permanent illusion (DC 26) showing a plain unadorned sword. When its wielder takes their first level of faithblade scion, the illusion falls, showing the Paladinstar in its full glory.

Initial Abilities: When first acquired, the Paladinstar functions as a +2 adamantine spellblade greatsword. Anyone who wields it, whether a faithblade scion or not, also benefits from its protection from evil ability (see below).

Spellblade (Su): The wielder of Vanor the Paladinstar is immune to the effects of the hold person spell.

Protection from Evil (Sp): Vanor constantly surrounds it wielder with a protection from evil effect. This ability otherwise functions like the spell of the same name.

Daylight (Sp):  Beginning at 1st level, a faithblade scion of the Paladinstar can produce an effect like that of a daylight spell by holding Vanor aloft. The effect lasts for 10 minutes, or until the character lowers the sword. Using this ability expends one daily use of the scion’s turn undead ability.

Searing Light (Sp): At 2nd level and above, a faithblade scion of Vanor the Paladinstar can create an effect identical to the spell searing light. The wielder needs only to aim the tip of Vanor at its intended target. The spell is cast at the character’s faithblade scion level. Each use of this ability expends one daily use of the scion’s turn undead ability.

Enhancement Bonus: The Paladinstar’s enhancement bonus increases to +3, when the the faithblade scion reaches 2nd level, to +4 when he reaches 5th level, and +5 when he reaches 8th level.

Thundering: At 3rd level, Vanor the Paladinstar becomes a Thundering weapon.

Dispelling: At 4th level, the Paladinstar becomes a dispelling weapon. Denying the ability of evil to hide behind magic.

Dispel Evil (Sp): At 6th level and above, a faithblade scion of Vanor the Paladinstar can create an effect identical to the spell dispel evil. The spell is cast as a cleric of the scion’s character level. Each use of this ability expends one daily use of the scion’s turn undead ability.

Holy: At 9th level and above, Vanor acts as a holy weapon.

Holy Aura (Sp): At 10th level and above, a faithblade scion of Vanor the Paladinstar can create an effect identical to the spell holy aura. The spell is cast as a cleric the scion’s character level, except that it only affects the wielder. Each use of this ability expends one daily use of the scion’s turn undead ability.

NOTE: This sword was created using the rules from the D20 book "Swords of our Fathers" by the Game Mechanics.
