Wrengren Oathsworn

The Wrengren tribes of the Nei Mountains are a displaced race, formerly of T'Kau Mouth.

The Ches uprooted the tribes and took them as slaves for the Godswar. A Chessian general named Ulan Talas had a portal to T'Kau Mouth built in the Malkin Valley in the Nei Mountains to amass a slave army. He took a large force through the portal and subdued the Wrengren warriors found there by holding their women and children hostage. General Talas had realized early in the campaign that the Wrengren's overdeveloped sense of honor would prove their undoing. Using their honor against them, Talas bound the collected tribes with an oath.

Talas sent a lieutenant with group of warriors back through the portal to kill the women and children and store their souls in a crystal prison to power his infernal magic.

After the war, the Wrengren left the army, their oath fulfilled. When they passed through the portal, they were met on the other side by the soulless corpses of their loved ones. They decided to go back through the portal and hunt down the traitorous Chessian. They found and defeated him in the city that still bears his name.

The remaining Wrengren decided that they couldn't live on the site of their peoples most grievous tragedy, so they decided to stay in the Malkin Valley to protect their ancestral lands from their neighbors.

The Wrengren tried to destroy the portal, but it was created using an ancient procedure that allows the portal to repair itself.

When the newly formed Teketian nation turned its eyes toward the Malkin Valley, the Wrengren elders made a deal; they would send 100 oathsworn* Wrengren to act as bodyguards for the Teketian lords. The Teketians accepted and even now powerful Blood Mages of Arkhan and Tekkan priests have Wrengren oathsworn as bodyguards.
