Sessions 35: Attack at Smallstone Manor
Three days after returning from the mission to recover the diplomat's body, they were resting in Smallstone Manor when the doors blew in and a group of sixteen nimblewrights entered, attacking indiscriminately. However the combined might of the Smallstone Score was able to repel the attack, destroying the speedy constructs.
During the battle, Jelana slipped away out into the darkness, looking for the construct's master. She found a lone figure on a hill overlooking the manor. She closed in on the figure, hoping to take him by surprise. When she reached the figure she realized that it a drow elf. She attacked, defeating him quickly. When she searched his body she found a letter.
The letter spoke of a plan to kill Bannor, Astaria, Chiranjeev and Carkain, the half-undead enemies of Hilden's Four. The letter mentioned that if the attack was unsuccessful that the drow was to head south to Katay and catch a ship to Xraxus. The letter also mentioned a local in Alranda that has been giving information to them about the Smallstone Score.
That night Jelana went out to local taverns, trying to gather information about locals who have some sort of grudge against the Smallstone Score. Before the end of the night she learned of a man named Joel who was talking bad about the Smallstone Score a couple of days earlier.
The following day, using this information, Corwynne scryed for the man named Joel. She saw a man fitting the description working in some sort of office. Corwynne teleported to the office and cast dominate person on the man. She walked the man back to the manor. The group questioned Joel. He owned up to the fact that he worked for a man named Davies in Elf Friend.
The group decided that they would split up into three groups to search for the architects of the assassination attempt. Bannor, Astaria, Chiranjeev, and Flerg traveled north to Xraxus. Allister, Grafton, Ollorin, Hatch, Armogast, and Garsh would travel west to Elf Friend. Corwynne, Jelana, Alisnier, Flynn, and Raymond went south to Katay to intercept the ship that the drow was supposed to escape on.
