Sessions 32: Rescue

The day after Corwynne returned from the bandit hideout, the entire group headed into the forest.

When the group arrived at the lair, they attacked the bandit leadership. After a brief battle the group had defeated the bandit leadership with little effort.

They rested and continued to the city of Eyrin. Eyrin is situated on a small island in the center of the Zath River.

The group spend three days in Eyrin searching for information about someone having captured a unicorn. After questioning various local business owners, Hatch discovered that a man named Gerald Blackbranch had been asking about unicorn horns. Blackbranch is a local ranger and follower of Lagmar. Lagmar is the deity of bloodlust, hunters, and wild beasts. After learning Gerald's name, Corwynne used that information to scry on the ranger. After several tries, Corwynne was able to see and hear the mountain man.

He was deep in the forest, walking near a stony ridge. Blackbranch was walking along the ridge with a large boar. Corwynne realized that Gerald was walking in a northwestern direction.

The next morning the group left to try and track the ranger to his forest lair. Late in the afternoon they found the ridge. They started to travel northwest following the same path as Blackbranch. They traveled for two days, destroying a cave full of trolls during their journey.

When they found the ranger's cave they entered, fighting Blackbranch's boar companion and a huge constrictor snake. Deep in the cave system they found the ranger barricaded in a room. When they broke through the door they noticed a unicorn bound to a makeshift altar with the ranger standing over the altar performing some sort of unholy rite.

The group fell upon the evil ranger like a tidal wave. After striking down the ranger they released Mylenia the unicorn.

Their mission complete, the group returned to their home in Alranda.
