Session 28: Unexpected Allies

Three days after the decision was made to send a group to the site of the starfall, the group boarded their new ship and set off for Freeport. Taylor Seacrest had been to Freeport many times and advised that it would be a good place to search for information.

After an uneventful month at sea, the ship docked in Freeport’s port. They asked a local for the nicest inn in town and they were sent to the Circle.

The Circle is a large inn and tavern in the center of the city. Considering the quality of the food and accommodations, the Circle is inexpensive. The uncommon mixture of quality and frugality causes the Circle to be the busiest inn in the city.

After getting a good meal, the group mingled with the locals, hoping to find out some information about the starfall from the sailors. After asking several patrons and the serving girl with no luck, the group ended up speaking with a couple of old men that sat in the corner smoking pipes. After a short conversation, the group had learned two things: many adventurers have been through the city asking about the starfall, but most have been less than serious about actually investigating the site, and that the best place to find information would be at the home of Telinathor Gwellomore. Telinathor is a famous elven sage. He lives in a house in the Dock Ward with his wife, Cerillia. Cerillia is an extreme powerful wizard with a well-known mean streak.

After a meeting with Telinathor, he offered to accompany the group on their expedition. They agreed to have the sage join them, but Telinathor made it very clear that he was only going in an advisory capacity.

The following day, Corwynne spoke with one of the old men that smoke their pipes in the corner of the Circle. The man, Mr Bucky, told Corwynne to go and speak with a local elven entrepreneur named Korikash Gilruthanis. He said if anyone locally would have useful information, Korikash would.

Intrigued by the old man's words, Corwynne told the rest of the group that she was going to meet with Korikash. She made her way down to the elf's huge home. It sits on a bluff overlooking the harbor. She knocked on the door and a handsome, charming elf with black hair and fine clothing answered. He was surprised that a spryte would be knocking on his door, so he invited her in. After a long discussion, Korikash offered to take the group to the starfall site in his magical ship. Corwynne agreed and they decided that they would leave in two days.
