Session 27: Smallstone Score
The following morning the group took Flynn, almost completely incapacitated, back to their base camp.
Another group went into the city, this one consisting of Alisnier, Allister, Flerg, Corwynne, and Garsh. The group patrolled the city, not seeing anything interesting until they heard a heated argument from around a corner. As the group stepped around the corner, they saw a man standing in a doorway, obviously disturbed by the group of five adventurer types standing outside, trying to enter the man's shop. When the party rounded the corner, the shop keeper used the distraction to flee into the building.
The leader of the group accosting the man stepped forward to speak with the group. Alisnier stepped forward to ask what the problem was and Corwynne flew to the door to get the shop keeper's account of what was going on. Corwynne entered the building, looking for the man.
Outside the two groups came together, with Alisnier speaking with their leader. Allister insinuated himself in the middle of the loose group with Flerg and Garsh coming forward to prepare for any eventuality. Allister quickly ascertained that the other group was hostile. Trusting his gut feeling, he attacked. The resulting battle was quick and decisive, with only the other group's wizard escaping after casting a fly spell.
The shop keeper, a man named Jonathan Rankins, explained that the other group had been looting local businesses and they were trying to intimidate their way into his shop. He also said that he is a member of the city council and the governor has been looking for adventuring companies to help keep the peace. He thanked the group for their help, gave them a letter of introduction, and sent them to the governor's headquarters.
When they met the governor, Roman Steelside, he quickly gave them a charter to operate as an adventuring company, called the Smallstone Score, within Leonay. He also gave them the keys to a manorhouse for them to use as a headquarters.
The group decided that they were going to go and check out the crash site of the meteor. They sent Taylor Seacrest out to purchase a boat and hire a crew to man it.
They decided on a group consisting of Corwynne, Allister, Hatch, and Alisnier to make the journey.
